How we work

Four things you can hold us to.

  • Fixed fees, in writing

A written quote before any work starts. No hourly billing and no surprise invoices.

  • Month to month

No lock-in contracts. One month's notice if you ever want to leave, with a proper handover.

  • Reply within one business day

Email, WhatsApp or phone. You deal with the people who do your work, not a call centre.

  • Free switch

Moving from another accountant? We handle the clearance, SARS and CIPC access and the catch-up at no charge.

Included with every engagement

FTG Books. Accounting software we built, free for our clients.

Most small-business software stops at a trial balance and charges extra for everything else. FTG Books keeps your books clean, handles VAT, calculates your public interest score from your own data and, when you qualify, compiles annual financial statements you can file yourself.

  • Your secure client portal: upload documents and see your books live
  • Bank imports, reconciliations and invoicing
  • VAT201 figures and provisional tax estimates
  • Automatic PI score and assurance-level check
  • IFRS for SMEs compliant annual financial statements
  • Free for as long as you are an accounting or tax client

We also work in the tools you already use:

"If your PI score is under 100 and you own and run your company, you are allowed to compile your own financial statements. I would rather give you the tool to do that than bill you for something you do not need."

Questions

Frequently asked

Where are you based and who do you work with?

Filling the GAAP is a fully remote practice. We work with individuals, sole traders, companies, trusts, non-profits and body corporates anywhere in South Africa, and with South Africans living abroad. Everything happens over video calls, WhatsApp, email and secure document sharing.

What do your designations mean?

Professional Accountant (SA) is the designation awarded by SAIPA to qualified accountants who may compile financial statements and act as accounting officers. Professional Tax Practitioner (SA) means registration with SARS as a tax practitioner through a recognised controlling body, with the right to represent you before SARS. Independent Reviewer (SA) means the holder may perform independent reviews of annual financial statements under the Companies Act.

Is the first consultation really free?

Yes. The first meeting is a conversation about your situation and what you need. If we can add value we will send you a clear quote. If you would be better served by doing it yourself, we will tell you, and show you how FTG Books can help.

Do I get FTG Books for free?

Yes. Every client on an accounting or tax engagement gets a free FTG Books subscription for as long as they remain a client. Non-clients can also use FTG Books on a paid plan.

How do I send you my documents?

You can upload them directly into FTG Books, share a secure cloud folder, or send them by email. We will give you a simple checklist of what we need for each engagement so nothing gets missed.
